Margaret White and I found this autograph book a few years ago. I scanned the book, but we were unsure of the origins. With the help of the NC Archives, they identified the document belonging to Sarah Fowle Telfair.

Abstract:
Sarah Ann Richardson Fowle Telfair (1823-1906) was born in Washington, Beaufort County, but had family connections in Raleigh, including a son, Samuel Fowle Telfair. She was a sister of North Carolina governor, Daniel Gould Fowle, 1889-1891, a Democrat who died while in office. This autograph book, unnumbered, multipage, unbound autograph book, circa October - December 1893, contains poems, scripture verses, and various affectionate greetings, accompanied by signatures, apparently to honor Mrs. Telfair.

An unnumbered, multipage, unbound autograph book, circa October - December 1893, containing poems, scripture verses, and various affectionate greetings, accompanied by signatures, to honor a lady not identified in the book, but who appears to be Sarah Ann Richardson Fowle Telfair, 1823-1906. She was born in Washington, Beaufort County, but had family connections in Raleigh, including a son, Samuel Fowle Telfair, who left an entry in the book. Samuel F. Telfair had served as private secretary to his uncle, Governor Daniel Gould Fowle (1889-1891), who had died while in office.
