Marriage of Miss Laura Cordon.Yesterday morning, at the Methodist church in Oxford, Miss Laura Telfair Cordon, daughter of the late
Rev. James H. Cordon, D D, was united in marriage to Mr. John Porterfield Stedman, of that place.
The ceremony, which wa3 a very quiet one, was performed by the Rev. J. A Cunninggim, D. D., assisted by Rev. R. H. Whitaker, D.D. Mr. T. B. Fuller acted as the groom’s best man. The bride was
immediately preceded by her intimate friends, Miss Agne&a Fau
cette and Miss Lome Currin. She entered on the arm of her uncle, Mr. Samuel F. Telfair, by
whom she was given away in marriage. The ushers were D C. Hunt
and A. A. Hicks. As the bridal parly entered and retired from the church the WeddiDg March was beautifully executed by Mrs. Lanier, who presided at the organ.
The bride made a wide circle of friends here during her lamented father’s residence in Raleigh, and she is universally esteemed for her loveliness of character and her charms and accomplishments of person.
The groom is well and widely known, and enjoys great popularity with an extended circle of friends all over the State. For some time past he has been a successful druggist at Oxford, and is looked upon as one of the most prominent business men of that place.
At the conclusion of the ceremony Mr. and Mrs Stedman left on the north bound train for a tour to the North and West, followed by the warmest congratulatiOEs and good wishes of their friends, in which the News-Observer Chronicle heartily joins.
